In 2015, the FCC adopted rules requiring wireless carriers to provide more accurate location information for indoor calls, setting phased targets for horizontal and vertical accuracy, for example requiring that by 2021 the horizontal location error for most calls be within 50 meters, and gradually introducing vertical location (floor height).
