The Ice Ribbon features the world's largest single-layer bidirectional orthogonal saddle-shaped cable-net roof structure, with steel usage of only about one-quarter that of a traditional steel roof, and its ice-making system was the first to employ CO₂ transcritical direct cooling ice-making technology on a large scale at the Winter Olympics.
