Special Function Unit (SFU)
A dedicated hardware circuit within a GPU designed to compute transcendental functions such as exp, log, and sin. It produces approximate results via table lookup combined with interpolation within a small number of clock cycles, but its limited count makes it a potential throughput bottleneck.
