AI Guardrails
A set of technical and managerial measures surrounding large model deployment, used to constrain model outputs and behavior, including input filtering, output review, access control and behavior monitoring. They are deployed across the model layer, system layer and operations layer.
Timeline (last 90 days)
The sufficiency of guardrails is difficult to quantify, and models may bypass a single layer of protection through jailbreak prompts, multi-step reasoning or tool combinations.
If a company claims that its model will not access unauthorized systems, but such incidents actually occur, this may constitute false advertising and cross the consumer protection red line.
Guardrails need to strike a balance between safety and usability; too strict reduces product value, while too loose brings risks, and there is currently no unified industry standard for this balance point.
