pricehunt is a free Chrome extension; after a user selects specific specifications on an AliExpress product page and clicks 'Find the same thing cheaper', the extension opens listings one by one based on the image and seller title, providing a list of quotes for the same product with the same specifications, including shipping.
In live listing tests, pricehunt found that 35 of 59 discount cards had price parsers that mistakenly used the strikethrough price; when AliExpress showed free shipping the extension added shipping costs; the image CDN server returned 403 pages for repeated requests and these were cached by the browser for a year, and these issues were fixed in versions v1.5 and v1.6 by analyzing developer logs.
On AliExpress, the 'new customer exclusive price' is a discount the platform sets to acquire new users, visible only to accounts that have never placed an order; existing users cannot see this price even if they click the same link, so the same product shows different listed prices to different users.
AliExpress search results pages usually display only the price of the cheapest variant in a listing, and that variant is often an accessory (such as a short cable) rather than the main product in the title, causing a huge discrepancy between the price shown on the search page and the actual price paid.
In a tested case, an Essager 33W charger was listed at $12.43 on the original page, and pricehunt took about 2 minutes to find a quote of $8.42 for the same item (same model, black, EU plug, free shipping), better than the author's best manual search result of $8.89.
AliExpress Search supports input of up to 20 keywords and returns price, sales volume, rating, shipping country, Choice and promotional tags.
The compromised camera was the only cheap Chinese-made camera from AliExpress among all the user's devices.
