AXManualAccessibility
A property on the macOS platform used to trigger an Electron application to build its accessibility tree. Only after it is set does the application expose complete accessibility information to the system.
Timeline (last 90 days)
For performance reasons, Chromium does not build the full web accessibility tree by default, and only activates it when it detects that assistive technology has sent a query signal through the platform API; on macOS this is declared via the AXManualAccessibility attribute, and Chromium's command line needs --force-renderer-accessibility.
Electron apps inherit Chromium's deferred accessibility tree construction behavior, and automation tools often get an almost empty shell on first connection, until the client sets AXManualAccessibility and the full tree is exposed.
