Cascading Failure
A chain-reaction failure phenomenon in distributed systems in which an initial fault causes a subset of nodes to go offline, placing excess load on the remaining nodes, which then fail in turn, ultimately triggering a systemic collapse in a self-reinforcing cycle.

In large-scale distributed systems, after the first failure causes nodes to go offline, the remaining nodes bear higher traffic, and if redundancy capacity is insufficient, a second round of failures may be triggered — known as a Cascading Failure.
