CCAO-F
One of the Claude certification exams launched by Anthropic, aimed at validating applied capability in business scenarios and assessing the ability to use Claude for productivity tasks, workflow optimization and process improvement.
Timeline (last 90 days)
CCAO-F (Claude Certified Associate – Foundations) and CCAR-F (Claude Certified Architect – Foundations, also often written as CCA-F) are independent certifications for different work scenarios, rather than two levels of the same exam.
The CCAO-F certification verifies the ability to apply Claude to accomplish business and productivity tasks with minimal guidance, including using platform built-in features and tools to optimize workflows, identifying process improvement opportunities, weighing quality against efficiency and cost, and identifying capability boundaries.
The CCAO-F exam draws questions from 7 content domains; the heaviest single domain is "Output Evaluation and Validation" (21%), and together with "Governance, Risk, and Responsible Use" (15%), more than a third of the exam tests judgment about outputs and appropriate use.
CCAO-F and CCAR-F are highly consistent in exam format: both have 60 questions and 120 minutes, single- and multiple-select items, a scaled score of 720 to pass (on a 100–1,000 scale), proctoring (online and/or at a test center), and a validity period of 12 months.
The CCAO-F exam fee is 99 USD, and the CCAR-F exam fee is 125 USD.
Both CCAO-F and CCAR-F use a criterion-referenced assessment model, where a scaled score of 720 corresponds to a fixed competency threshold that does not fluctuate with the level of the candidate population.
Registration and scheduling for both CCAO-F and CCAR-F are handled through Anthropic Partner Academy and Pearson VUE, and renewal is completed through a free unproctored assessment on Partner Academy.
The retake waiting periods for CCAO-F and CCAR-F are the same: 14 days after the first failure, 30 days after the second, and 90 days after the third; a maximum of four attempts within a rolling 12 months, each requiring payment.
The CCAO-F guide explicitly names "software developers who build or design agent systems based on APIs" as well as experts in machine learning, software engineering, and advanced AI system design as unsuitable for this exam, and points where this work belongs toward the Claude Architect and Claude Developer certifications.
