Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS)

A technology that uses an optical fiber itself as a distributed sensor array. By emitting laser pulses and demodulating phase changes in backscattered light, it can sense and locate acoustic waves, vibrations and other physical disturbances along the fiber in real time, with spatial resolution reaching the meter level.
