Erasure Coding

A core fault-tolerance technique in distributed storage that splits original data into k data blocks and generates m parity blocks, such that any k shards are sufficient to reconstruct the complete data. Compared with multi-replica replication at the same fault-tolerance level, erasure coding significantly reduces storage overhead.
