Fire HD
Amazon's line of low-cost tablet computers running Fire OS, known for being adequate and inexpensive, positioned for audio-visual entertainment and content consumption.
Timeline (last 90 days)
The Fire HD series runs Fire OS, a deeply customized version of Android, and does not come with Google Mobile Services (GMS) preinstalled.
Because GMS is not preinstalled, Fire HD devices cannot directly use Google apps such as the Google Play Store, YouTube, and Gmail.
Discontinued Fire HD devices may face the risk of security patches no longer being pushed, affecting long-term use.
If you need a full Android experience, Google services, or longer system update support, switching to another brand may be wiser.
Whether the Alexa tablet can continue the Fire HD's reputation for cost-effectiveness remains unknown for now.
