GBDT
An ensemble machine learning algorithm that iteratively trains multiple decision trees and accumulates their predictions to improve model performance. It is widely applied to classification and ranking tasks on structured data, though it has limitations in complex feature interaction modeling and sequential modeling.
Timeline (last 90 days)
Matrix factorization only models the two-dimensional user-item relationship and cannot natively incorporate context such as time, device, and session, so it requires context-extended versions or combination with feature models (such as GBDT).
Traditional LTR solutions based on GBDT (Gradient Boosted Decision Trees) have a ceiling in feature crossing and sequential behavior modeling.
Gradient boosted tree models (such as XGBoost, LightGBM, and CatBoost) have long dominated the field of tabular data processing.
