Gemini Skills
A reusable custom instruction feature introduced by Google in the Gemini app. It is stored in the open SKILL.md format and can be invoked by users with @, and is applicable to Workspace applications such as Gmail, Docs, Slides, and Drive.

Gemini Skills are essentially a set of reusable, customized instructions stored in the open SKILL.md format, which users can invoke by typing @ plus the skill name in the Ask Gemini panel in Gmail, Docs, Slides, Drive, or Chat, and Workspace Studio flows can also use them.
Skills created in Workspace need to be recreated in the Gemini app; the two sides are not interoperable.
Google lists the apps that support Skills as including Gmail, Docs, Slides, Drive, and Chat, excluding Sheets.
Workspace users under 18 cannot create or share skills.
A skill can only see content that its user can access: by default this includes Drive and the web, and if checked, also Gmail, Chat, and Calendar; if someone cannot open a file, Gemini will not retrieve it for them.
Gemini Gems is scheduled to be discontinued on November 17 and will be replaced by Gemini Skills.
