Hodge-Laplacian
A central operator in the discrete exterior calculus framework, defined as $L_0=\star_0^{-1} d_0^{\top}\star_1 d_0$, where $d$ is the exterior derivative and $\star$ is the Hodge star operator. It is the discrete-mesh generalization of the continuous Laplace-Beltrami operator and can be used to measure the local high-frequency oscillation intensity of a solution field.
Timeline (last 90 days)
The paper proposes a mixture-of-experts (MoE) architecture based on a learnable Hodge-Laplacian for PDE surrogate modeling.
The discrete Hodge Laplacian formula is L_0 = star_0^{-1} d_0^T star_1 d_0, which plays a role in discrete exterior calculus similar to the continuous Laplacian and can quantify the high-frequency content at each vertex on the mesh.
The paper's current experiments are limited to steady-state problems and coarse meshes (about 4,900 vertices), and scalability to transient problems and large-scale meshes has not yet been verified.
Traditional Fourier analysis no longer applies on unstructured meshes, and the Hodge Laplacian, as a natural tool in discrete differential geometry, provides a rigorous mathematical foundation for spectral partitioning.
