ItaSoRL
ItaSoRL is an open-source experimental project investigating the internal states and environmental perception of reinforcement learning agents. It explores how agents can detect, through internal representations, that their operating environment has been manipulated.
Timeline (last 90 days)
A researcher trained a reinforcement learning agent with the goal of foraging, then placed it in a fake world where only a single physical rule—ground traction—had been altered.
The experimental code has been open-sourced, with the project available at ItaSoRL (https://ilevytate.github.io/ItaSoRL/).
The author created a Colab notebook so that people without powerful computing resources can also run the experimental code in the cloud.
The author stated that the paper is still being written and plans to later upload the agent's internal brain state data for community analysis.
This experiment only modified a single physical rule and the accuracy figures need to have their robustness confirmed under more rigorous statistical conditions, making it a preliminary experiment.
