Monument
An open-source tool for 3D reconstruction of historical buildings, built on the Claude Code skill mechanism. It generates interactive 3D models through procedural geometry organized by construction phase, annotated with dates and sources, and supports environments including Claude Code, Codex and OpenCode.
Timeline (last 90 days)
Developer Gleaming0427 published an open-source project called Monument on Dev.to, which is a Claude Code skill.
Monument is used via the slash command /monument, and after entering a building name it automatically completes the workflow of historical research, dimension estimation, and 3D model generation.
Each construction stage generated by Monument is annotated with the corresponding era and source.
Monument prioritizes geometry based on verifiable actual measurement data, and explicitly marks details with insufficient sources as 'uncertain'.
Monument runs entirely locally, with 3D rendering handled by Three.js.
Monument has so far produced three interactive reconstruction cases: the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Eiffel Tower, and the Roman Colosseum.
Monument is open-sourced under the MIT license, and is installed via npx skills add Gleaming0427/monument.
Besides Claude Code, Monument also supports Codex, OpenCode, and Antigravity.
A detailed complete historical reconstruction can take 30 to 90 minutes, and the first generated result often requires manual further tuning.
Monument represents a category of Claude Code skill direction that is taking shape: no longer limited to code generation and productivity tools, but instead stringing AI's retrieval, reasoning, and creation capabilities into a workflow with sources, handling more specialized knowledge-based tasks.
