NanoAgent is an AI Agent library that runs natively in PHP, installable via composer require hammrouni/nanoagent, with zero runtime dependencies.
NanoAgent supports OpenAI, Groq, Anthropic, DeepSeek, OpenRouter, as well as any self-hosted endpoint compatible with the OpenAI protocol (such as Ollama and llama.cpp server), and switching providers requires changing only one line of configuration.
NanoAgent supports registering any Model Context Protocol (MCP) server (Streamable HTTP transport), whose tools behave identically to local tools, with an allowlist controlling which tools are registered.
NanoAgent provides persistent memory functionality implemented through pluggable drivers, supporting JSON files, SQLite, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or custom drivers.
NanoAgent explicitly does not auto-generate prompts, does not provide magic abstractions, and does not introduce extra dependencies (its dependency tree is empty).
NanoAgent deliberately excludes capabilities such as multi-Agent orchestration, complex memory strategies, and built-in RAG pipelines.
