OTP
A built-in concurrency and fault-tolerance framework for the Erlang/Elixir platform. It provides behavior patterns such as GenServer and Supervisor for building highly available, supervisable, long-running service processes.
Timeline (last 90 days)
The OTP is usually sent to email as a 6-digit number, expires in 1 minute, and is used in three scenarios: post-registration email verification, optional login two-factor verification, and password reset.
OTP (one-time password) is a common identity verification method: after the user enters a phone number, the platform sends an SMS with a random numeric code, and the user must enter it back within a limited time to prove ownership of the number; compared with a fixed password, it can effectively reduce the risk of password leakage and credential stuffing.
The single-use token is generated when the interface is created and written to an environment variable rather than to code, is destroyed along with the teardown of the interface, is consistent with the OTP (one-time password) design philosophy, and prevents replay attacks.
The refactored BlinkInbox can automatically extract OTP verification codes and magic link login URLs.
When performing the delete action, the workflow actively excludes OTP (one-time password) emails and emails marked as protected to avoid accidentally deleting important information.
In Elixir, a GenServer or ETS table can be used to cache the JWKS key set in memory with a refresh cycle, to avoid requesting the JWKS endpoint on every verification.
When the kid carried by a token cannot be found in the cache, a forced refresh should be triggered rather than directly rejecting the request, in order to handle the race window during key rotation.
OTP (One-Time Programmable memory) is a non-volatile storage area inside a chip that can only be written once and is permanently read-only thereafter.
Verification code delivery failures or delays exceeding users' patience threshold (typically 15–30 seconds) lead to user drop-off and a decline in registration funnel conversion rates.
Industry-leading OTP services typically commit to availability of 99.95% or higher (corresponding to no more than approximately 4.4 hours of annual downtime) and P95 latency within 5 seconds.
