pricehunt
A free Chrome browser extension that automatically finds the lowest price including shipping for identical products on AliExpress. It uses a locally running vision model to compare product images and specifications to determine whether items are the same product, with all data kept locally and never uploaded to the cloud.
Timeline (last 90 days)
pricehunt is a free Chrome extension; after a user selects specific specifications on an AliExpress product page and clicks 'Find the same thing cheaper', the extension opens listings one by one based on the image and seller title, providing a list of quotes for the same product with the same specifications, including shipping.
In a tested case, an Essager 33W charger was listed at $12.43 on the original page, and pricehunt took about 2 minutes to find a quote of $8.42 for the same item (same model, black, EU plug, free shipping), better than the author's best manual search result of $8.89.
pricehunt is powered by an AI model running on the local computer and does not upload to the cloud; the AliExpress account, shopping cart, and search history all remain local, and searching is free.
The author used MiniCPM-V 4.7 to complete all development and testing of pricehunt; the extension supports any vision model running via Ollama, or any server compatible with the OpenAI interface.
pricehunt uses llama.cpp and stores MoE weights in system memory (--cpu-moe), using only 4GB of VRAM, and can run on an ordinary 8GB graphics card.
pricehunt's match percentage comes from the probability value (logprobs) of the 'Yes' token, and if the server does not provide logprobs it degrades to a simple Yes/No judgment.
Pricehunt's reference product images generate a 256-bit difference hash (after removing the brand banner first), but the hash match is only trusted after the model confirms it is the same type of product.
In live listing tests, pricehunt found that 35 of 59 discount cards had price parsers that mistakenly used the strikethrough price; when AliExpress showed free shipping the extension added shipping costs; the image CDN server returned 403 pages for repeated requests and these were cached by the browser for a year, and these issues were fixed in versions v1.5 and v1.6 by analyzing developer logs.
Logprobs are the logarithmic form of the probability distribution a language model gives when generating each token; when enabled, the API additionally returns candidate tokens and their log probabilities, and pricehunt uses this to soften binary yes/no judgments into a 0~100% match percentage.
