QNN
Qualcomm's newer low-level AI inference API, offering finer-grained backend control. It is progressively replacing SNPE as the primary deployment path for Qualcomm on-device AI.
Timeline (last 90 days)
Qualcomm QNN (Qualcomm AI Engine Direct) is a newer low-level API that provides finer-grained backend control and is gradually replacing SNPE as Qualcomm's primary deployment path for on-device AI.
SNPE and QNN work on an "operator whitelist + graph partitioning" basis: the toolchain checks one by one whether each operator in the model is supported by the target backend, and unsupported operators are partitioned out to fall back to CPU execution, or trigger a direct error during the conversion/compilation stage.
