Reparse Point

A low-level mechanism of the NTFS file system that allows a file or directory to carry metadata interpreted by a specific file system filter driver. When resolving a path, the operating system invokes that driver to change the final destination. Junctions and symbolic links are both implemented on top of this mechanism.
