Sportello chiaro
A locally run tool for explaining Italian-language Swiss administrative letters. It uses code to extract deadlines and a local LLM to generate explanatory text, and supports graceful degradation.
Timeline (last 90 days)
Sportello chiaro is a local MVP tool that explains Swiss administrative letters in plain Italian and marks the deadlines.
Sportello chiaro's design principle is that deadlines are produced by code through regular expressions and timedelta calculations, not generated by a language model.
Sportello chiaro uses regular expressions to match the date following delivery markers such as the German zugestellt am or the French notifié le.
When a local model call fails, Sportello chiaro automatically falls back to rule-based output and logs the error, and the user can still see the deadline and the reply template.
Sportello chiaro uses only the Python 3.10 standard library (urllib, http.server, re, datetime, json), about 300 lines of code, and provides a CLI and a local web page running at 127.0.0.1:8080.
In Sportello chiaro's tests, the Gemma 3 1B (Q4_K_M) model run via llama-cpp-python was used.
Sportello chiaro's envisioned default configuration is to call a larger model via Ollama, but that configuration has not been tested.
Sportello chiaro's full end-to-end pipeline for processing a fictional letter with the 1B model takes about 40 seconds.
Sportello chiaro does not yet perform schema validation on model output, does not verify whether the answer contains the four sections, and does not check whether the deadlines in the text match the calculated dates.
Sportello chiaro's deadline calculation does not handle weekends and public holidays, and it does not support OCR or PDF input, only pasted text.
