Timeline (last 90 days)
Steam Next Fest is a game demo festival held by Valve several times a year, during which developers can release free demos and players can discover new titles through demos and add them to their wishlists.
Steam's AI disclosure label is displayed only in specific areas of the store page and is not connected to the ranking logic of search, recommendations, or event pages such as Next Fest.
Some developers pointed out that the problem with Next Fest is not AI itself but the lack of a quality threshold in the event's mechanics—whether human-made or AI-made, low-completeness demos should not receive equal exposure.
Exposure at Next Fest directly affects the early sales of indie games at launch, so the display positions and recommendation algorithms on the event page carry extremely high commercial value.
