Targeted Replay
One of the core mechanisms of DeltaStreamer. When descriptions in memory are insufficient to support an answer, the agent revisits historical frames to recover visual details not retained during the observation phase from raw pixels. It requires the system to still access raw video frames or frame indices at inference time and to possess the capability to rapidly locate and extract segments.

DeltaStreamer consists of three core components: change-aware memory, a query-driven planner, and targeted evidence collection and replay.
The targeted replay mechanism allows the agent to revisit original video frames during the inference stage, recovering at the pixel level visual details that were not written into the text descriptions during the observation stage.
The targeted replay technique requires the system to still be able to access original video frames or frame indices during the inference stage, needs to maintain addressable video storage, and must have the ability to quickly locate and extract relevant segments based on timestamps or event boundaries.
Compared with RAG-based text memory, targeted replay can recover at the pixel level information that was never written into text during the description stage, at the cost of additional storage and read overhead, and the planner must accurately indicate the replay range.
