token-ring handshake
A ring-buffer-style cross-kernel synchronization mechanism in which the dispatch kernel increments a counter each time a batch of ring blocks is filled, while the compute kernel polls the counter, thereby pipelining dispatch and computation.

The token-ring handshake lets computation begin as soon as the first batch of ring blocks is filled, rather than waiting for the entire dispatch to complete; the double-buffered receive counters eliminate the tail cross-rank barrier between replays.
