Trust Region
An optimization strategy for local search that defines a region, typically spherical or hyperrectangular, around the current best solution and performs exploration within that region. In large-scale Bayesian optimization it is frequently paired with local surrogate models to schedule sampling, with the region expanded or contracted according to optimization progress.

AMM routes to five classes of engines: quasi-Newton, trust region, coordinate, multi-start, and evolution strategies.
The "one-to-many association strategy" proposed in the paper allows a single GP-pro-c surrogate model to support multiple trust regions, thereby decoupling the scheduling layer from the modeling layer.
