Yitang Zhang
A Chinese-American mathematician born in Shanghai in 1955. He graduated from the Department of Mathematics at Peking University and in 2013 attracted wide attention by proving the existence of infinitely many pairs of primes with a bounded gap (with an initial bound of 70 million), making a major contribution to analytic number theory and research on the twin prime conjecture.
