Zonal Symmetry

Zonal symmetry is a property of integral operators on the unit sphere whose kernel depends only on the inner product of two unit vectors. Their eigenfunctions are spherical harmonics, and the eigenvalues can be given explicitly by Legendre expansion coefficients.
