Barriers and Insulating Coatings

Two protective measures used by laptop manufacturers in factory liquid metal solutions. The barrier is made of high-temperature-resistant silicone or foam and surrounds the chip's integrated heat spreader to form a physical barrier. The insulating coating covers tiny components and solder joints around the chip to prevent small amounts of liquid metal from seeping out and causing short circuits. These are difficult for self-modders to replicate perfectly.
