Lease Mechanism
A task ownership management mechanism in distributed systems whereby a worker process holds a task by acquiring a time-limited lease, which must be renewed via continuous heartbeats. Upon expiration, the task is transferred to another process. Fencing Tokens are used alongside leases to prevent stale writes in split-brain scenarios.
