CDU
A coolant distribution unit, the core device in a liquid-cooling system. It distributes coolant to each rack or device requiring heat dissipation and manages flow rate, temperature, and pressure.
Timeline (last 90 days)
Liquid cooling runs coolant directly through cold plates or heat exchange units within the switch rack; once a pump, valve, pipe, or coolant distribution unit (CDU) fails or needs to be isolated for maintenance, heat removal capability drops within seconds to minutes, and switch chips may trigger protective downclocking or shutdown.
If supporting loads such as CDUs, pumps, dry coolers, or cooling towers are not included within the boundary, the PUE number will look better, but total energy consumption may not actually decrease.
The Giga Computing booth includes a cooling distribution unit (CDU) provided by partner TaiSol Electronics.
The facility loop and the equipment loop exchange heat through a cooling distribution unit (CDU).
