Claude Terminal Translator
A third-party terminal translation plugin for Claude Code that performs bidirectional translation between the user's Chinese input and Claude's English responses via the DeepSeek API, displaying the original text and the translation side by side.
Timeline (last 90 days)
Claude Terminal Translator is a Claude Code plugin used to automatically perform Chinese-English translation in terminal conversations.
The plugin's workflow is: after the user inputs Chinese, the plugin first calls DeepSeek to translate the Chinese into English, then sends the English to Claude; after Claude responds, the plugin passes the English answer to DeepSeek to translate into Chinese and appends it below the original text.
Before translating, the plugin shows the English translation to the user, who can verify it before sending it to Claude.
The plugin has preservation requirements for code, paths and commands, trying not to translate identifiers into Chinese, but translations can still be wrong, and users need to verify key content themselves.
Installing the plugin requires two steps: enter a command in the Claude Code terminal to add the plugin, and configure the DeepSeek API Key.
Adding an equals sign before the Chinese input (e.g. `=保留中文`) skips translation for that single message and sends it as-is.
The slash command `/Translate Off` disables automatic translation, and the state persists across sessions; `/Translate On` re-enables it; entering `/Translate` alone shows the current status.
When a connection interruption or service busy occurs, the plugin retries; if the retry ultimately fails, it sends the Chinese request as the original text, or keeps the English answer without displaying a Chinese translation.
When sensitive code or data is involved, translation should be disabled, either via `/Translate Off` or by using the equals sign to skip a single message, to avoid privacy risks.
The plugin itself contains no model and is just a scheduling layer, whose availability depends entirely on whether the external APIs it relies on are functioning normally.
