Evidence Citation
A provenance mechanism in AI output validation that requires the model to cite verbatim substrings from the source text as evidence. If no such citation can be provided, the output is not delivered. The mechanism is used to prevent fabrication and hallucination by tying each asserted claim to an exact passage in the source, making the basis of the output traceable and verifiable.

In the synthetic conversation failure case, a naive extractor would wrongly assign the deployment task to Ben (it was actually handled by Kara), whereas this workflow exposes through the evidence quote that the owner came from Ava's question rather than Ben's correction, and the confidence drops sharply and the item falls into needs review.
