GENERIC_TIMEZONE
A global timezone environment variable in self-hosted n8n environments, used to uniformly configure the default timezone at the workflow level. It affects the Schedule Trigger, logs, and time functions in expressions.
Timeline (last 90 days)
n8n supports configuring a global default timezone via the GENERIC_TIMEZONE environment variable, so that all workflows that are not individually overridden inherit that timezone.
GENERIC_TIMEZONE determines the default timezone used at the workflow level (including Schedule Trigger, logs, and time functions in expressions).
In Docker deployments, setting only GENERIC_TIMEZONE while ignoring TZ can sometimes cause the timestamps of runtime logs to be inconsistent with scheduling trigger times.
After modifying the GENERIC_TIMEZONE environment variable, you need to restart the n8n instance for it to take effect.
This n8n deployment involves four environment variables, including two timezone variables, GENERIC_TIMEZONE and TZ, as well as two boolean variables set to true.
