GitHub CLI
GitHub's official command-line tool that supports managing repositories, issues, pull requests, and CI run logs from the terminal. It is often used to output GitHub status as text that AI agents can read.

When `gh api --paginate` is used to fetch PR review comments, this endpoint returns 30 comments per page by default.
`gh issue view --comments` brings out the full comment thread of an issue.
The `--log-failed` argument of `gh run view` outputs only the logs of failed steps, skipping the logs of passing steps.
The author proposes three countable output metrics—Landed, Dropped, and Reverted—tallying respectively the number of tasks merged into the release branch, the number of PRs closed without being merged, and the number of changes reverted after being merged.
The --paginate option of gh api graphql requires the query to contain the $endCursor variable and the hasNextPage and endCursor fields in pageInfo in order to work properly.
az account set, gh auth switch, and gcloud config configurations activate all rewrite a file in the user's home directory, and that file is shared by all terminals and tools.
When the GH_TOKEN or GITHUB_TOKEN environment variable is present, the gh CLI uses that token for all commands instead of the login credentials, and gh auth status only checks locally stored login credentials and is not aware of environment variables.
gh pr checks --watch waits for the checks, and --fail-fast stops at the first failure.
In the GitHub CLI, when the --base parameter is not passed, gh pr create uses the branch's gh-merge-base configuration to determine the base branch.
The evolution path of CLI tools reducing complex cloud operations to scriptable atomic commands is consistent with tools such as GitHub CLI (gh), gcloud, and aws.
