Henry Kogan's contribution is asymmetric synthesis: in a chemical reaction, the left-handed and right-handed versions each account for 50% in the initial state, and by artificially increasing the proportion of one version (for example, from 50:50 to 51:49, i.e., an excess of 2%), he was able to observe significant changes in the product.
