Timeline (last 90 days)
iLand is a productivity tool that transforms the Mac notch area into a compact workstation integrating a variety of everyday utilities.
iLand recently appeared on Product Hunt, receiving 68 upvotes and ranking 19th for the day.
Features supported by iLand include music control, a drag-and-drop file staging tray, file format conversion, screenshots, and screen recording.
iLand provides switchable widgets covering needs such as calendar, weather, and timer, and supports gesture operations and custom layouts.
iLand was created by indie developer Taha Çiftçi.
iLand actually occupies the menu bar extension space on either side of and below the notch, rather than rendering UI inside the notch itself.
Aggregating frequently used operations at the top of the screen reduces attention shifts and context switching, theoretically lowering operational costs.
iLand's approach is similar in concept to launcher tools such as Raycast and Alfred, but iLand anchors its entry point at a fixed physical location on screen to leverage spatial memory.
iLand's integration of music control, file conversion, screen recording, and other features means it runs persistently in the background, and its stability and performance need to be verified in practice.
Features such as format conversion and screen recording already have a large number of mature alternatives on macOS, so iLand's competitiveness depends more on whether the integrated experience is smooth.
