NOVA21
A 21-degree-of-freedom fully active rotary direct-drive dexterous hand released by WanNa Robotics, aimed at robotics research and development teams, integrating three-dimensional tactile sensing and multi-interface control schemes.
Timeline (last 90 days)
Wanna Robotics released the new dexterous hand NOVA21 at the Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Autumn Edition).
NOVA21 adopts a 21-degree-of-freedom fully active rotary direct-drive design, with the thumb having 5 active degrees of freedom and each of the other four fingers having 4 active degrees of freedom.
The overall hand dimensions of NOVA21 are 195×105×71mm, close to the size of an adult human hand.
NOVA21's maximum fingertip force per finger is ≥20N, the maximum four-finger grip force is ≥200N, and it supports force control and backdriving; the no-load angular speed of four-finger bending reaches 520°/s, and the fingertip repeat positioning accuracy is ±0.2mm.
NOVA21 is equipped with 16 force sensors, combining three-dimensional tactile sensing at the fingertips and finger pads with a palm normal-force array; the normal Fz sensing range is 0-25N, the tangential Fxy is ±10N, and the tactile resolution reaches 0.1N.
The technical foundation of NOVA21 is Wanna Robotics' self-developed direct-drive rotary actuator, and the control layer adopts a dual-encoder scheme, with the drive module's angular repeat accuracy of 0.2-0.5°.
NOVA21's 2Pin interface supports RS485 or CAN-FD, and the 4Pin interface supports EtherCAT or TCP/IP, while also supporting OTA online upgrades and a quick-change wrist.
NOVA21 is clearly oriented toward three types of scenarios: scientific research and development, industrial verification, and service exploration.
