Poisson Process
A classical mathematical model for describing the random arrival of events. The probability of events occurring within a time window of any length is governed by an intensity parameter λ, and events in non-overlapping intervals are mutually independent. It is widely applied in queueing theory, point process modeling, and related fields.
Timeline (last 90 days)
In LJMs, at each event time driven by a Poisson process, the state undergoes a learned instantaneous jump.
A Poisson process requires the assumptions of event independence and stationarity, whereas OpenAI's reset decisions are human-driven; therefore, the reset probability estimate is better used as a perceptual calibration reference than as a rigorous predictive model.
The exponential distribution describes the waiting time between successive events in a Poisson process and has the memoryless property.
