Shared Memory
A mechanism in multi-agent collaboration systems by which multiple agents jointly maintain and access project context memory, used to reduce loss in context transfer and to support collaboration loops.
Timeline (last 90 days)
Shared memory means each agent can access the same project context (such as file state, task plans, and historical messages), avoiding retransmitting all the background at each handoff and reducing errors caused by context loss and repeated description, but it also brings the problems of context length bloat and increased token consumption.
If shared memory has no permission layering, erroneous experience written by one Agent may contaminate the entire system, so before writing to long-term memory it must go through a verification chain and be labeled with its scope of applicability.
Although shared memory improves context coherence, it may come at the cost of decision faithfulness.
Shared memory is explicit key-value pairs, focusing on structured writes and overwrites, and threads can read definite facts in a deterministic way.
