Skills API
An API that exposes Agent skills as programmatic interfaces, enabling skills to be created, read, updated, and distributed across different Agents. It avoids the repeated definition of operation logic and supports centralized maintenance and unified auditing.
Timeline (last 90 days)
The Files API and Skills API required specific beta request headers during the beta stage, which are no longer needed after GA.
The pagination mechanism has switched from the previous pagination approach to cursor-based pagination.
If the code still enables the beta features of Files or Skills via the anthropic-beta header, requests may be rejected due to unknown header fields or behave inconsistently with expectations.
The migration steps include: upgrading to an SDK version that includes GA support; removing the beta header configuration related to Files/Skills; adjusting the expiration time in file creation calls to a maximum of 90 days; changing the pagination parameters of list calls to cursors; running type checks and fixing errors; and finally verifying the file upload, list, and skill invocation flows in a test environment.
Notion 3.8 adds a Skills API that lets skill configurations sync across different Agents, avoiding redefining the same operation logic.
Anthropic announced that Computer Use, Skills API, and Files API have officially reached General Availability (GA), with the Beta header removed.
