Unboom
A Mac menu bar tool for room low-frequency correction. It scans the room response to locate amplified bass frequencies and applies precise attenuation. It only attenuates and never boosts, requires no subscription, and does not collect data.
Timeline (last 90 days)
Unboom is a Mac menu bar tool that precisely attenuates the room's low-frequency standing wave frequencies in the system audio chain through software, only attenuating and never boosting.
Unboom received 74 votes on Product Hunt, ranking #17.
The Unboom workflow includes a scan mode (playing a test signal through the Mac microphone and capturing the room response to automatically locate problem frequencies) and a manual mode (directly selecting frequencies by ear); after selection, the attenuation strength can be chosen from three levels—Gentle / Medium / Strong—and finally the Correction switch is turned on to take effect.
Unboom does not collect any data, and there is no subscription model—it uses a one-time buyout model.
Unboom only acts on the Mac's system output; any audio played outside the Mac or signals monitored via direct passthrough through an independent audio interface will not be processed.
Unboom targets home studio users, content creators, and ordinary listening users, and is not suitable for professional mastering engineers.
Software correction cannot change the physical resonance nature of the room; Unboom can only improve the scenario of "listening on a Mac," not the physical fact of "listening in a room."
System-level audio processing and hardware direct-passthrough monitoring are two different signal paths: audio output through Mac Core Audio can be processed by Unboom, while signals that bypass the Mac (such as direct-passthrough monitoring via an independent audio interface, external hardware mixing consoles, or ASIO channel output) will not be processed.
