Timeline (last 90 days)
Youtarr released a v1.84.0 version update.
Youtarr is a free, open-source, self-hosted YouTube DVR/downloader that allows users to subscribe to channels or playlists, automatically download new videos, and watch them in Plex, Jellyfin, Emby, or a browser.
Using Youtarr does not require deploying a media server; users can use only its built-in lightweight player.
Youtarr v1.84.0 adds a watch status sync feature that can pull watched video information from Plex, Jellyfin, and Emby and apply it as a filter.
Youtarr's watch status sync is currently one-directional, with data flowing only from the media server into Youtarr; watching via the built-in player will not mark videos as watched in reverse.
Youtarr adds an automatic cleanup mechanism allowing users to set rules such as deleting videos seven days after watching or retaining only the latest ten downloads per channel, with the option to mark channels as cleanup-protected.
Youtarr provides a preview function before deletion rules are activated, allowing users to first confirm which videos will be removed.
Youtarr v1.84.0 introduces a full-channel download feature, accompanied by a confirmation dialog to warn of the risk of large volumes of historical videos.
Youtarr's playlist functionality has been enhanced to support downloading beyond the original 100-video limit, removing subscriptions, and choosing playback order.
Youtarr allows users to manually update yt-dlp in settings and choose between the stable or nightly build to complete the update immediately.
