MLP
The most fundamental fully connected feedforward neural network architecture, composed of an input layer, one or more hidden layers, and an output layer. It is trained using the backpropagation algorithm and serves as one of the foundational models in deep learning.
Timeline (last 90 days)
An MLP consists of stacked layers of linear transformations combined with nonlinear activation functions, and exploits almost no structure of the input.
On the three benchmarks UNSW-NB15, CIC-IDS2017, and EMBER2024, the paper compares against calibrated XGBoost, Random-Forest, MLP, and Kitsune, and measures a two-stage cascade of "Suricata (52,674 Emerging-Threats rules) → VX-One" running over five days on CIC-IDS2017.
Leagues and tours such as MLP (Major League Pickleball) have gradually been established, forming a complete industry chain of equipment, court operations, training, and event organization.
Unlike MLPs, which place fixed nonlinear activation functions at the nodes and weights on the edges, KANs place learnable spline functions (usually B-splines) on the edges, and the nodes only perform summation.
The Kolmogorov-Arnold Geometry (KAG) framework reveals the internal computational structure of a network by analyzing the local response of hidden layers to input changes—that is, the minors of the Jacobian matrix.
The authors trained a single-hidden-layer MLP on synthetic datasets and verified the effectiveness of the α-RC metrics through computational experiments, which show that the new metrics can more clearly reflect the concentration of a network's internal representations and are unaffected by network scale.
The paper validates the effectiveness of DP-μP on three architectures—MLP, ViT and GPT-2—with an experimental design that searches learning rates on narrower models and then applies them directly to wider models without additional tuning.
Circuit analysis (such as tracing the collaborative paths of attention heads and MLPs) is still effective, but what it explains is the computation path, not the 'cleanliness' of the representation space; the two belong to different levels of questions.
In mainstream vision-language models (VLMs), MLP refers to the feed-forward network in each Transformer layer responsible for position-wise nonlinear transformation, whose parameter count often accounts for more than half of the entire layer.
The balance between static and dynamic capabilities is particularly sensitive to changes in the parameters of the model's late-layer MLPs (multilayer perceptrons).
