Cloud Functions
Cloud Functions is a serverless function compute service provided by Google Cloud Platform, enabling developers to write and deploy backend code at the function level without managing servers or runtime environments. The service follows an event-driven model, executing code in response to triggers such as HTTP requests, Cloud Storage changes, and Pub/Sub messages. It supports mainstream languages including Node.js, Python, Go, and Java, with billing based on invocation count and execution duration.

The Firebase Spark plan is the free tier, suitable for development and testing, but does not allow calling services requiring network egress such as Cloud Functions; the Blaze plan is the pay-as-you-go tier, with all features unlocked and still including a certain free quota each month, charging only for the excess, so under small-scale usage the bill may still be zero.
The Budget Alert in the Google Cloud Console sends an email notification when estimated or actual spending reaches the set amount, but it does not automatically stop services; to prevent excess charges, additional configuration of Cloud Functions instance limits or API quota limits is required.
BigQuery supports subscribing to budget alert events via Cloud Pub/Sub and then executing custom logic through Cloud Functions.
