EUV Lithography
A chip lithography technique that uses extreme ultraviolet light to pattern wafers. It is a key process for the mass production of advanced nodes at 7 nanometers and below. Currently only ASML manufactures the equipment required for this technology.
Timeline (last 90 days)
The entire optical path of an EUV lithography machine must work in a vacuum, and the light source relies on high-power lasers striking tin droplets to produce plasma.
Musk's chip project Terafab is under rapid construction and may receive its first ASML EUV lithography equipment in the middle of next year, indicating that its first-generation product will still rely on the traditional laser-produced plasma light source approach.
ASML is the only company in the world capable of producing EUV lithography machines.
A single EUV machine contains more than 100,000 precision parts, weighs 180 tons, and costs about $150 million to $350 million.
EUV技术使用13.5纳米波长光源,相较传统DUV(193纳米)可在单次曝光实现更精细图案转移,是7nm以下先进制程量产的关键技术
