GLM Coding Plan
A monthly subscription service for coding agents launched by Zhipu AI (Z.ai). It offers three tiers, Lite, Pro and Max, each providing a fixed quota of calls to GLM models, and supports integration with tools such as Claude Code and Cline.
Timeline (last 90 days)
GLM Coding Plan suits developers who use agents at high frequency daily, users who want to handle routine tasks with a cheaper model inside Claude Code, and Americas-based developers whose weekdays almost entirely fall within Z.ai's discount hours; it does not suit light users or those who want to integrate it into their own applications.
The GLM Coding Plan subscription terms explicitly prohibit users from calling the model from their own apps, bots, websites, SaaS products, or other systems, the quota cannot be shared with colleagues, and it is non-refundable.
At a 95% cache hit rate, GLM Coding Plan's quota converts to API value: Lite $71 per week (all peak) to $141 (all off-peak), Pro $424 to $848, Max $989 to $1,978.
GLM Coding Plan is a monthly subscription service launched by Z.ai (the international brand of Zhipu AI), used to call GLM models with a fixed quota in AI coding tools, rather than being billed by token.
GLM Coding Plan fully switched to a token-metered credit system on July 30, 2026, after previously evolving from "counting by prompt, with no weekly cap" to "counting by prompt, with 5-hour and weekly caps".
The monthly prices in Z.ai's April 2026 migration notice were $18, $72 and $160 respectively, and Pro and Max rose by about 11% and 5% respectively when the credit system launched.
The credit formula for GLM Coding Plan is: credits = (input tokens × input multiplier + cached input × cache multiplier + output × output multiplier) / 10,000.
Z.ai's peak hours are Monday to Friday 14:00 to 18:00 Singapore time (UTC+8), totaling 20 hours per week; outside peak hours, model usage is billed at 50% of the standard rate.
GLM Coding Plan's 5-hour window refreshes on a rolling basis (usage is released 5 hours after being consumed), and the weekly window resets every 7 days from the moment of subscription; if either window is exhausted, tool calls fail immediately, and the plan does not fall back to the account balance.
The open-source version of ZCode does not enjoy the credit benefits associated with the GLM Coding Plan.
