Autoencoder
An autoencoder is an unsupervised neural network architecture that compresses input data into a low-dimensional latent representation via an encoder, then reconstructs it through a decoder. It is used for dimensionality reduction, feature learning, and data reconstruction, and forms the foundational architecture for the Variational Autoencoder (VAE).
Timeline (last 90 days)
In predictive maintenance, anomaly detection usually employs unsupervised learning, such as autoencoders and isolation forests; fault classification relies on supervised learning, using random forests, gradient boosting, or time-series deep learning models.
Lightweight behavior monitoring modules are typically only tens to hundreds of KB, run at the device firmware layer, establish a baseline of normal behavior by monitoring system call sequences, and use lightweight anomaly detection models to identify behavior that deviates from the baseline.
The Pulling step moves the embedding representation toward the weighted average of its neighbors, and the Correcting step projects the result back onto the learned manifold via the autoencoder.
Anomaly detection is currently the most mature area of AI deployment in trading scenarios, with unsupervised learning-based Isolation Forest or autoencoder models having been validated at multiple large custodian banks and exchanges.
The first stage of a multi-stage training pipeline is training an autoencoder to encode sequence and structure data separately into latent representations.
Entropic Scree can be used to estimate the intrinsic dimensionality of a dataset, thereby explicitly determining the size of bottleneck layers in neural networks (such as the latent space of an autoencoder).
