Core Web Vitals
A set of quantitative user experience metrics introduced by Google in 2020, comprising three core indicators: Largest Contentful Paint (LCP), First Input Delay/Interaction to Next Paint (FID/INP), and Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS). These metrics were incorporated into Google's page experience ranking signals from 2021 onward.
Core Facts
Timeline (last 90 days)
The core logic of performance optimization under early bandwidth constraints—reducing requests, compressing resources, and prioritizing the presentation of critical content—is directly inherited by today's Core Web Vitals optimization philosophy.
Pulsetic RUM reports three categories of data—Core Web Vitals, load time percentiles, and JavaScript errors—by embedding an asynchronous script.
Core Web Vitals currently includes three core dimensions—LCP, INP, and CLS—with ideal values of LCP within 2.5 seconds, INP below 200 milliseconds, and CLS below 0.1.
Simha Digital offers growth opportunities, Core Web Vitals monitoring, and an AI assistant that understands users' data.
LCP (Largest Contentful Paint) is the largest contentful paint time, and heavy JavaScript execution delays the rendering of critical content.
INP (Interaction to Next Paint) measures interaction responsiveness and is directly affected by main thread blocking.
INP (Interaction to Next Paint) officially replaced FID as one of the Core Web Vitals in March 2024.
A large number of technical blogs and media websites migrated away from Disqus to alternative solutions between 2019 and 2023, primarily due to GDPR compliance risks and the negative impact on Core Web Vitals metrics
In June 2021, Google officially incorporated Core Web Vitals into search ranking factors, requiring LCP to render the largest content within 2.5 seconds, INP to keep response latency below 200 milliseconds, and CLS to keep layout shift below 0.1.
