When the next-generation Tesla Roadster was unveiled in 2017, it claimed a 0-100 km/h acceleration of under 2 seconds, a range exceeding 1,000 kilometers, and a top speed of over 400 km/h.

Currently the reservation deposit is $50,000 for the Performance version and $250,000 for the Thrust version, while the Rocket version is available by invitation only.

The Tesla Roadster is first and foremost an electric sports car, and flight capability belongs only to the top-tier Rocket version.

There is no evidence that the Tesla Roadster has obtained an aircraft airworthiness certificate, airspace access or authorization to operate as an air taxi.

According to TechCrunch, all three models are rated at 300 miles (about 483 km) of range and a top speed of over 230 mph (about 370 km/h).

Tesla showcased three Roadster configurations: Performance, Thrust and Rocket.

Musk has said that "safety is not the primary goal," and stated bluntly on a podcast that "if safety is your primary goal, don't buy the Roadster."

The Tesla Roadster comes in four versions: base, performance, propulsion and rocket.

The Roadster originally slated for a 2020 launch has been completely abandoned, and the new Roadster is promised for delivery in 2028.

The new Roadster uses a full carbon-fiber body, weighs less than 1,700 kg, is rear-wheel drive, has dual motors producing 1,300 horsepower, supports 500 kW supercharging (15-80% in just 10 minutes), delivers 25-30 minutes of full-power track output, and features active aerodynamics and steer-by-wire/brake-by-wire.

The rocket Roadster adds six directional thrusters and a 400-liter gas tank, enabling jumps and flips, with 0-60 mph acceleration in just 0.6 seconds; this version is explicitly not road-legal and is available by invitation only.

The propulsion Roadster is equipped with cold-gas thrusters, with four exhaust pipes at the rear connected to a 200-liter carbon-fiber-wrapped pressure tank storing more than 100 kg of nitrogen at 10,000 PSI, enabling 0-60 mph acceleration in under 1 second, but the thrust lasts only 3-5 seconds and refilling takes 6-7 hours.

The performance Roadster is equipped with a fan system that uses the low-pressure zone underneath to generate downforce, achieving 0-100 km/h in 1.6 seconds.

The wall-climbing and flying demonstrations at the launch event were pre-programmed autonomous driving demos, not scenarios users can reproduce in daily use.

The next-generation Roadster adopts steer-by-wire and a yoke steering wheel, inspired by the SR-71 Blackbird reconnaissance aircraft.

The next-generation Roadster is equipped with two carbon-fiber-wrapped pressure vessels with a total capacity of 600 liters, and 10 nozzles are arranged underneath the vehicle.

The next-generation Roadster introduces a fan-based suction system capable of generating downforce twice the vehicle's weight.

The new Roadster's demonstration did not announce a price, trim levels, or final production specifications.

Since its first unveiling, the new Roadster has undergone nearly nine years of delays.

Musk claims the new Roadster can maneuver like a rocket and perform all kinds of crazy stunts.
